Australian Athletics has introduced a fresh identity, revealing a new name and logo that reshaped its look. The redesign includes adjustments in typography, symbol layout, and color scheme, aligning the organization’s image with its evolving role in Australian sports.
One major change is how the name is arranged. Previously, the focus was on “Athletics,” with “Australia” appearing below in a smaller size. The new layout flips this, placing “Australian” first, followed by “Athletics.” This change strengthens the national identity.
The previous design featured an oval with overlapping curved elements, creating a layered motion effect. The new emblem replaces this with diagonal, ribbon-like shapes that add a sense of movement and direction. Clean lines and a structured layout give it a more modern and polished look.
The color palette has been refined. The old logo used multiple gradients of red, yellow, green, and orange, resulting in a complex appearance. The updated version simplifies this, focusing on green, yellow, and orange and applying them more consistently against a dark background. This improves contrast and maintains a strong connection to Australia’s sporting colors.
The previous font had an italicized style with mostly lowercase letters, except for an uppercase “A” at the beginning. The new typeface takes a different approach—now all letters are capitalized, and the slanted orientation is gone. This creates a more uniform and balanced look, with well-proportioned spacing that improves readability.
These updates give Australian Athletics a modern identity, making its visual style more defined and recognizable. The adjustments bring clarity, organization, and consistency, creating a lasting image for the sport in Australia.
