The Brisbane Broncos are entering a new era and have unveiled a major brand update, the first in the past twenty-five years. The rebrand includes a redesigned emblem, updated playing kit, and a new team slogan: “We Charge On.” Through it, the club signals its ambition to move beyond national achievements and build a recognizable presence on the global sports stage.
The new Broncos mark takes the form of a horse’s head facing the viewer and enclosed within a contemporary shield. The image is built on simple, clear lines, while the club’s gold and dark maroon colors have gained a denser, richer expression. The visual style maintains a connection to the past and the team’s place of origin. The line flow echoes the contours of the Brisbane River, and the away kit honors the legacy of the club’s iconic figure, Cyril Connell.
The refreshed look feels bold and current, but it also raises several challenging questions. The removal of the traditional Broncos wordmark, which had been part of the emblem for many years, complicates team identification among rivals that use a combination of name and symbol. The new version of the mark departs from the familiar visual image fans have known for decades and will require time to accept.
Club leadership discusses plans to expand the team’s influence and popularity beyond Australia, particularly amid preparations for the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane. Broncos player Reece Walsh is already regarded as a player capable of attracting international attention. At the same time, the current look of the emblem feels more oriented toward a local context than to a global market.
Despite doubts and debate, the club’s leadership is confident the update will be a significant step in the team’s development. The emblem, with its concise, disciplined image, sets high expectations and reflects the realities of professional sport. The Brisbane Broncos now face the task of communicating the new image to fans and a wider audience, reinforcing the club’s status as a force not only within the NRL but also beyond the national championship.
