Dinshaw’s, one of India’s oldest producers of dairy products and ice cream, has undergone a major brand refresh. The company’s history dates back to 1932, and over the decades, the brand has maintained a strong connection with several generations of Indian families. Today, its ice cream and dairy products are sold almost nationwide and have long been a part of everyday life.
Over time, the wide product range began to work against the brand. Different product lines developed independently, fragmenting the overall image and making it harder for consumers to navigate the lineup. To bring order and strengthen its in-store presence, Dinshaw’s turned to NH1 Design. The agency was tasked with creating a cohesive, vibrant, and easily recognizable style.
The letter D served as the basis for the new system. It evolved into a large symbol capable of uniting the entire product range under a single brand. The previous logo, featuring handwritten text and a red background, gave way to a more cohesive version. The letters became denser and softer in form, giving the logo a creamy, pleasant texture. The red color was retained to maintain a connection with the brand’s past, and the “Since 1932” inscription was moved above the main name and rendered more neatly.
On the packaging, the letter D became the main unifying motif. NH1 Design, together with the Tonic studio, created a series of 3D versions of the logo for different products. On ice cream, the D resembles a melting scoop. On milkshakes, the logo looks smooth and shiny. On the bread packaging, the letter’s shape is transformed into a transparent window. Thanks to this approach, the product range gained a unified look without losing the distinctions between categories.
The typography was also updated. The Amsi Pro font was used throughout the line in a range of weights, from thin to very bold. This system helps distinguish categories while maintaining a consistent design rhythm. The recurring letter D, the shared color palette, and the unified typographic approach bring the products together into a cohesive structure.
The logo evokes joy, warmth, and pleasure, typically associated with dairy products and desserts, while also evoking the brand’s long history. As a result, Dinshaw’s has gained a more cohesive, fresh image, combining memories of the past with modern packaging and a clear structure across the entire product range.
