Frecciarossa has unveiled a new logo, opening a new chapter in the brand’s development. The presentation took place at Milan Central Station. This is not merely a cosmetic change for a fresh look, but an attempt to more accurately define the company’s role within the European transport network.
The brand is part of Trenitalia, which is a member of the FS Group. Over the years, it has become one of the mainstays of Italian high-speed rail and is now increasingly expanding its international operations. The rebranding grew out of a broader modernization effort launched following the introduction of new Hitachi Rail trainsets, built in Pistoia and Naples. The trains reach speeds of up to 360 kilometers per hour, offer a high level of safety and comfort, and feature interiors designed by the Giugiaro studio in the spirit of “Made in Italy.”
The name Frecciarossa translates to “red arrow,” and the new logo draws on this imagery. It is based on a stylized letter F tilted at 45 degrees. The line echoes the train’s aerodynamic silhouette and links the logo to speed, technological advancement, a forward-looking vision, and quality of service. Through the letter’s shape, the brand conveys speed, technological advancement, and the accessibility of travel to a broad audience.
It was important for the company to strengthen the brand’s presence outside Italy, more clearly demonstrate its technological leadership, and unify various touchpoints under a common brand identity. Trains, stations, ticket halls, and FrecciaLounge spaces in Milan and Rome will be redesigned in line with the new system. An official shade of Frecciarossa Red was also developed for the brand in collaboration with Pantone.
Following the redesign, Frecciarossa is shaping the image of a modern railway brand; for it, speed has long since ceased to be merely a number on a display. The new logo speaks to the quality of the journey, the engineering infrastructure, and the extensive European route network, within which high-speed transport connects cities and countries into a shared space.
