Genk Unveils New Logo and Brand Identity

Genk Logo New

The Belgian city of Genk has updated its logo and identity, developed by the studio SKINN. The city, with a population of about 66,000, grew from a small village thanks to the coal industry and now presents a different face: open, modern, and honest.

The old logo, with its natural and sun elements, had lost relevance. It looked fragmented and failed to convey the city’s spirit. The new identity draws on Genk’s past, highlights its residents’ energy, and preserves its mining roots.

Genk Logo Evolution

The new symbol is based on a shape resembling a piece of coal, a symbol of industrial heritage. The city’s name is written in large, soft-edged letters. The upper corner of the letter “G” is thickened, the lines of “N” become narrower, and the lines of “K” are smoothly curved. Together, these details create a unified and strong image.

The coal shape became the main element of the visual system. It is used as a container for text, photographs, and illustrations, helping to build vivid compositions. The new style combines the official communications of the city administration and the tourism sector, forming a unified perception of Genk as a dynamic and appealing city.

Genk Symbol

The brand system was simplified. Many separate departments and projects were merged into a single structure, creating a consistent, recognizable communication structure.

The slogan emphasizes the city’s essence as a place where life is felt every day, where emotions and authenticity come first. The updated style reflects pride in its history and Genk’s confidence in the future.
