Mar de Santiago Unveils New Logo and Brand Identity

Mar de Santiago Logo New

In 2026, Mar de Santiago received an updated mark from CASA PRANSA. The Camino de Santiago’s water route became a distinct tourist destination linked to the pilgrims’ sea route. The brand covers Ría de Arousa, Río Ulla, Vilanova de Arousa, Catoira, Valga, and Pontecesures. Its historical foundation is based on the Traslatio, the transfer of the apostle’s body to Galicia.

The previous logo recalled a resort postcard. Inside a circle, it showed the sea, a sail, the sun, and the shore. That image suited a place for relaxation by the water. For a route with Xacobean tradition, a river setting, and several municipalities, the brand needed a presentation focused on journey, memory, territory, and navigation.

Mar de Santiago Logo Evolution

CASA PRANSA moved away from illustration and built the emblem from four square parts. They show waves, architectural motifs, a coastal theme, and a fortress tower. Water sets the route’s direction, the tower connects the mark to local heritage, and the modular grid helps bring different points along the route together.

Mar de Santiago is presented as “Camiño pola auga.” The phrase distinguishes the route from the Camino de Santiago. It shifts the focus to water travel, river places, nature, and the memory of the Traslatio. The logo builds the route from simple fragments connected with place and history.

The typography changed as well. A large, bold sans serif replaced the romantic old lettering. The name became denser and better suited for tourism materials, the website, maps, signage, and navigation. The muted turquoise background with the dark blue mark gives the brand a more mature mood.

The identity is built around the connection between the Camino and its fluvial setting. Separate marks were prepared for different municipalities, tied to their history and heritage. The shared logo brings the route together under the Mar de Santiago name. It helps it be perceived as a unified path by water.

Mar de Santiago Logo Old

The update gives Mar de Santiago a clearer role among the Camino de Santiago routes. The sea and river setting, Xacobean tradition, and the heritage of Galicia are brought together in one calm mark with a clean form.
