MPM Motors: Brand overview

In September 2015, brothers Oleg and Igor Paramonov brought MPM Motors to life in Croissy-sur-Seine, Yvelines, within the Île-de-France region. Their goal was to create advanced electric vehicles. Initial investments from French business angels fueled their ambitious venture.

From 2016 to 2017, the company concentrated on developing its prototypes, attracting additional investments, and assembling a team of talented engineers and designers. 2017, the company partnered significantly with Valeo, a major automotive components supplier.

2018 marked a breakthrough for the company. Unveiling their first concept car at the Paris Motor Show garnered significant interest from the public and industry experts. The French government awarded them a substantial grant to promote eco-friendly transportation that year.

By 2019, the company had moved into pre-series production and refined its technology. Major orders from corporate clients, including a leading car-sharing network, indicated growing market confidence in its products.

Despite the challenges in 2020, the company began mass-producing electric vehicles and launched a proprietary network of charging stations in collaboration with EDF, emphasizing its commitment to sustainable infrastructure.

In 2021, the company expanded its production capabilities and model lineup. Their electric vehicles gained popularity across France and began entering other European markets, such as the Benelux countries and Germany.

Towards the end of 2021, Oleg and Igor Paramonov announced the unexpected closure of the company. While this decision remains undisclosed, speculation points to possible financial difficulties, increasing competition in the electric vehicle market, or the founders’ circumstances.

MPM Motors Logo

MPM Motors’ emblem features a shield and text. Three large capital letters, MPM, form the top level of the emblem. The abbreviation stands for Mr. Paramonov Manufacturing. The founders named the company in honor of their father, who established TagAz (Taganrog Automobile Plant).

The open glyph “P” symbolizes the company’s openness to new technologies and commitment to modernization. MPM Motors’ first and only model was a modification of the Tagaz Aquila, transformed and enhanced to meet the demands of European customers.

A thin stripe in the colors of the French flag—blue, white, and red—runs under each capital letter. This color scheme hints at the founders’ homeland: the Paramonov brothers, born in Russia.

Below the capital letters, the word “Motors” appears in a smaller font. The length of this word matches the top line, creating a harmonious and geometrically balanced composition.

To the left of the name is a shield with sloping, convex sides, symbolizing nobility and quality. Inside the shield is an image of an eagle ready to catch its prey. The prototype Aquila translates from Latin as “eagle,” explaining the choice of this bird for the emblem. The final version of the car was named MPM Erelis, which means “eagle” in Lithuanian. The car embodies speed, agility, and strength from its mascot.
