The online platform Slideshare, which has more than 70 million users and over 25 million presentations, has introduced a new identity created by the studio Mother Design. The update simplified the service’s style, creating a light, modern brand perception.
The previous logo, in use since 2006, featured an illustration of two people holding a slide, symbolizing knowledge sharing. However, over time, it became outdated because Arial Rounded and old-fashioned shapes looked archaic. Despite this, Slideshare remained popular thanks to its usefulness and high-quality content.
The new logo reinterprets the earlier approach. Instead of people, it features two overlapping shapes resembling slides or screens, preserving the idea of shared access to information. The wordmark is set in a soft sans-serif typeface, and the letters “li” visually recall the former symbol of two users standing side by side.
The identity is built from geometric blocks of varying shapes and scales, combining text, images, and illustrations. At times, a smooth gradient is applied between the blocks to create a sense of depth, but more often, solid color is used. The main palette consists of dark blue, orange, white, and black, recognizable yet renewed and balanced.
The brand’s tone of voice has become warmer and more human. The platform addresses users with short, inspiring phrases and tips, removing the excessive seriousness of the presentation creation process.
The main typeface is Stringer by Order Type Foundry. It is an accent slab serif used for headlines. Its strict proportions contrast with the rounded forms of the logo and graphic elements.
The updated Slideshare image highlights the brand’s evolution and restores its relevance across numerous digital platforms. The new, friendly style reminds users that sharing knowledge is a living, inspiring process.
