The Frisco RoughRiders baseball team was established in 2001 when Texas Rangers owner Tom Hicks and Mandalay Entertainment purchased the Shreveport franchise. Soon, the franchise relocated to Frisco, Texas, adopting the RoughRiders name in honor of Theodore Roosevelt’s cavalry regiment.

The redesign was carried out by the San Diego-based Brandiose studio, with active participation from fans and team management. The process took about six months, allowing the design to fully capture the spirit of Frisco and the team’s historical roots.

The emblem, informally known as “Swinging Teddy,” depicts a smiling Theodore Roosevelt swinging a baseball bat. The character is styled in a cowboy fashion, featuring a wide-brimmed hat, boots, and a mustache, which merges historical elements with baseball themes and Texas culture. For alternate use, a portrait-style version called “Smiling Teddy” was developed for training caps.

The color palette consists of four signature shades: deep red (“Scorched Red”), cream (“Cream”), blue (“Slate Blue”), and dark blue (“Texas Navy”). These colors were chosen to evoke the look of hues faded in the Texas sun, emphasizing the club’s regional identity and historical connections.
