The logo at that time conveyed the essence of the name. A gray warthog was placed over a red letter “W,” referencing the initial letter of the city of Winston-Salem. The letter appeared massive, emphasizing the animal’s power.

The animal was shown with a baseball in its mouth. The combination of red and gray colors conveyed aggression and strength. The design effectively combined local identity with the team’s competitive nature.

2009 – 2019

Designer Dan Simon of Studio Simon created the new logo. He depicted the name “Dash” in vivid purple letters with sharp lines hinting at speed.

To the right is an aggressive baseball flying forward, leaving behind a cloud of smoke to enhance dynamism. The red lines on the ball symbolize speed, reminiscent of trails left by rapid movement.

2020 – today

In 2020, the Winston-Salem Dash changed the symbol’s concept, moving away from the previous angry baseball image. It was replaced by a stylish, neat monogram formed by the letters W and S, linked together in a single composition.

The emblem was created by the local agency The Variable. The team faced the challenge of combining tradition with modern trends to express the club’s close connection to Winston-Salem and its parent organization, the Chicago White Sox. The result was a logo that blends the sports aesthetics of earlier decades with today’s minimalist style.

The letters W and S are shaped with smooth lines; their curves and strokes resemble fonts from old baseball posters and classic newspaper headlines. The outlines of the characters widen toward the ends. This creates a retro mood and associations with the history of American sports. The white primary color is paired with a purple outline, creating a striking contrast. In the new style, white takes priority, while purple, which once dominated the Dash identity, now serves as an accent, adding brightness and individuality.
