Keysight Technologies Logo PNG
Signal transmission in modern networks requires precise control of parameters at every stage, from microchips to antennas. Specialized equipment detects fluctuations, interference, and deviations in the development of electronics and telecommunications systems. The Keysight Technologies logo represents a company that designs and manufactures measuring instruments and software tools for signal analysis and testing electronic devices.
Keysight Technologies was established in 2014 after Agilent Technologies spun off. The company’s origins date back to Hewlett-Packard, founded in 1939 by Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard. HP’s first product was the Model 200A audio oscillator. It was used for testing audio systems. By the 1950s, the company had become a leading manufacturer of electronic and telecommunications measuring instruments.
In 1999, Hewlett-Packard was split. HP Inc. focused on computers and printers. Agilent Technologies received the division related to measuring and analytical instruments. In 2014, Agilent separated its electronic measurement business. The new organization was named Keysight Technologies. After the separation, revenue was about $ 2.9 billion.
From its early years, Keysight invested in developing technologies for wireless network testing and 5G equipment. In 2017, the company acquired Ixia for $ 1.6 billion. This deal strengthened its position in cybersecurity and network traffic analysis.
By 2018, the company began developing solutions for testing autonomous vehicle systems. In 2020, demand for telecommunications equipment increased. In 2021, the company began developing quantum computing instruments. In 2022, it introduced the PathWave platform designed for measurement automation.
In 2023, research on sixth-generation networks began to receive investment. In 2024, the company invested in artificial intelligence to analyze testing data.
Keysight Technologies is a global leader in measurement and testing equipment. The company provides solutions for telecommunications, aerospace, automotive systems, and quantum technologies. Its operations span more than 100 countries worldwide.
Meaning and History
What is Keysight Technologies?
An international technology company developing equipment and software solutions for measurement and testing in electronics, telecommunications, aerospace, and defense. It produces analyzers, oscilloscopes, generators, multimeters, and quality control systems. The main business areas include telecommunications tools and solutions for industrial electronics. It provides calibration and maintenance services.
2014 – 2022
Keysight Technologies received its name and first logo in January 2014 during preparations for its separation from Agilent Technologies. The future company brought together the electronic measurement business. American agency Catchword created the name, while Landor Associates developed the identity. The red wave referred to a signal displayed on a measuring instrument’s screen. It linked the brand to the study of electronic device performance.
Agilent unveiled the name on January 7, 2014. Agilent asked Catchword to develop a measurement-related name that would work internationally, have an available domain, and qualify for legal protection. Keysight combined “key” and “insight.” The first part conveyed essential knowledge, importance, and access, while the second connected to understanding, vision, and discovering hidden information. The company explained the name through the ability to obtain information that helps people understand changing technologies.
In the logo created by Landor Associates, the wave appeared to the left of two lines of text. A thick red line formed three peaks and three alternating valleys of different heights. Smooth curves created the asymmetrical shape of an electrical signal observed during measurement. The emblem was described as a “stylized waveform.” It represented Keysight’s specialization and referenced Hewlett-Packard’s instrument-manufacturing heritage.
A large dark gray “KEYSIGHT” wordmark appeared on the right. The uppercase sans-serif letters stood upright and had medium-weight strokes. The word “TECHNOLOGIES” appeared below the name in smaller letters with thin strokes. Wider spacing between the letters in the lower line distinguished it from the tightly arranged wordmark above. The primary colors were named Keysight Red and Keysight Gray. Red was used for the wave, while gray was used for both lines of the name.
Keysight’s instrument manufacturing history dates back to 1939. That year, Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard founded Hewlett-Packard in Palo Alto. The company’s first product was the HP 200A audio oscillator, designed for testing audio equipment. It sold for $54.40, while comparable instruments cost between $200 and $600. Electronic measurement became the foundation of HP’s business and later passed to Keysight through Agilent.
In 1999, Hewlett-Packard transferred its measurement equipment, electronic components, chemical analysis, and medical equipment businesses into Agilent Technologies. Agilent completed its separation from HP on June 2, 2000. Agilent announced the next separation on September 19, 2013. The electronic measurement business was prepared to operate as an independent publicly traded company. The life sciences, diagnostics, and applied markets divisions remained under the Agilent name.
Operations under the Keysight brand began on August 1, 2014. The separation was completed on November 1, and Keysight Technologies shares began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker “KEYS” on November 3. Cooperation with Catchword continued after the separation. The agency worked on the naming system and helped create the PathWave name for a software platform used for design, testing, and analysis.
2022 – today
Keysight updated the identity of its design, modeling, emulation, and testing business in 2022. Before that, the identity evolved independently across different media. Instruments, software products, and digital materials needed to follow consistent standards. The shortened commercial name “KEYSIGHT” became the foundation of the update. The legal name Keysight Technologies, Inc. was retained.
The logo removed the lower “TECHNOLOGIES” line. The large word “KEYSIGHT” remained to the right of the red wave, reducing the overall height of the wordmark. The uppercase sans-serif letters received new proportions. Vertical strokes and even outlines formed a dense line of text. Black replaced the previous gray color. The wave on the left retained its shape and connection with the earlier logo. On dark backgrounds, the name appeared in white while the emblem remained red.
The Keysight team and the agency Huge worked on the project. Creative director Keith Manlove described the update as the largest brand redesign in seven years. The design team included Manlove, Marco Chiriguayo, Pedro Lima, Mike Needham, and Roberta Costa. Manlove, Hanbit Chang, and Nick Tolve created the three-dimensional materials and animation. The logo update formed part of a broader program covering equipment packaging, presentations, publications, and video.
The new identity was planned for implementation across 70 offices involving 14,000 employees. The team prepared a digital asset library, templates, and an interactive guide for employees and contractors. They described how to use the identity across different media and helped maintain consistent presentation standards. A separate area of work covered content marketing and the development of the Discovery platform.
