LEVC: Brand overview

LEVC (London Electric Vehicle Company), established on January 11, 2013, by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, embodies the future of sustainable transportation. Rising from the legacy of the London Taxi Company, the brand emerged with a vision focused on electric taxis and vans.

2013, Geely acquired the bankrupt London Taxi Company, transforming it into a brand. This move marked a bold shift towards electric vehicles, backed by significant investments in modernizing production and developing cutting-edge products.

The brand began with the TX eCity, a revolutionary plug-in hybrid electric taxi that combined an electric motor with a range-extending petrol generator. Production of the TX started in 2018, and it quickly became a favorite among London taxi drivers for its eco-friendly design and practicality.

Building on TX’s success, the brand introduced the VN5 electric van, designed for urban deliveries and transport. This vehicle, sharing the same platform as the TX, caters to the growing need for green commercial vehicles. The brand’s ambitions extend to other segments, including light commercial vehicles and premium cars.

While primarily serving the UK market, the brand also exports to Europe, Asia, and North America, targeting cities committed to sustainable transportation. The state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Ansty, Coventry, produces both the TX and VN5, showcasing advanced manufacturing technologies and rigorous quality control.

The brand’s story reflects a commitment to ecological innovation in the automotive industry. With Geely’s support, a focus on electrification, and a dedication to modern design, the brand continues to lead in sustainable transportation solutions, shaping the future of urban mobility.

The first emblem of LEVC is a circle symbolizing completeness and unity. The black outer ring creates the impression of dark space, emphasizing the company’s limitless possibilities and ambitions. Inside the circle, a sphere represents planets, with a smooth curve dividing the figure into two halves, symbolizing the transition between day and night.

The left half of the emblem depicts a blue sky with stars, representing night. The right half features sun rays and a figure of the goddess Athena in a helmet with a stalk, trident, and shield, symbolizing day. These elements highlight the 24-hour taxi service, offering technological and design solutions transferred from Europe to China.

At the top of the emblem is the inscription “Englon,” the name of the brand produced by Geely since 2011. The name combines “English” and “London,” indicating its English origin and inspiration. LEVC, a subsidiary of Geely in England, specializes in manufacturing taxis.

Geely, collaborating with English brands, aimed to develop taxis for the Chinese market. This led to the Englon TX4 model, inspired by London taxis.

To mark the launch of its brand in London, rescued after its partners’ bankruptcy, Geely made minor changes to the logo. The circle’s outer ring is now blue instead of black. This change highlights the company’s new hopes and prospects, associating it with stability and innovation.

The new company’s name, in white font, is inside the circle—The London Taxi Company. This element emphasizes continuity and the connection to the history of London taxis while also showcasing the brand’s renewed identity, which is focused on the future.

The modern design of the emblem creates an impression of a mythical and mysterious symbol, like a figure appearing under the cover of night. At first glance, the emblem may resemble a bat or an owl with outspread wings. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that it is an image of a horse’s head enclosed in a circle. This image represents Pegasus, symbolizing magical speed, strength, and nobility.

At the top of the logo are four letters—LEVC. While these letters might suggest the name of an animal, they stand for London EV Company Limited. The composition is in black, emphasizing the color of the company’s taxis.
