The beginning of 2026 marked a period of visual change for NBCUniversal. The company’s corporate identity once again includes the Peacock, integrated into the wordmark after the completion of the separation of part of its cable and digital assets into the new public entity Versant.
In 2011, the company introduced a simplified purple logo. At that time, the NBC Peacock and the Universal globe outline were removed from the identity, and management cited visual overload in the previous image. The project was developed by the studio Wolff Olins, which also contributed to the custom typeface for the logo.
On January 5, 2026, against the backdrop of the sale of a major package of cable assets to Versant, NBCUniversal updated its logo by adding a color gradient version of the NBC Peacock. The icon design is based on the version presented by Comcast in 2024. The return of the Peacock to the corporate logo marked the first such move in fifteen years.
The Peacock has historically been associated with NBC and has shaped the company’s visual identity for decades, until the transformations of the early 2010s. For more than ten years, the symbol was absent from NBCUniversal’s corporate identity. The updated Peacock logo, with a glass-like shine, aligns with Comcast’s current logo and strengthens the visual connection between NBCUniversal and its parent company.
The update is tied to recent structural changes. As part of the Versant spin-off, several networks, including CNBC and MS NOW (formerly MSNBC), dropped the Peacock from their new logos, signaling a distance from NBCUniversal. At the same time, NBCUniversal is reinforcing the symbol across its remaining brand portfolio, including the Peacock streaming service.
The NBCU wordmark remains unchanged. It was introduced during Comcast’s 2011 acquisition of the company from Vivendi and is based on the custom NBCU Rock Serif typeface. The typeface resembles the publicly available Elan and was originally used in a blue-purple tone. The name Rock refers to 30 Rockefeller Center, which served as NBC’s home for many years and is known as Rock Center and 30 Rock, as well as to the heavy rectangular serif form of the typeface.
The primary update is the NBC Peacock icon, featuring a glass-like shine that echoes Comcast’s 2024 identity. The return of the symbol establishes a new balance within NBCUniversal’s brand structure following the large-scale reorganization.
