Lufthansa Logos and Brands

Germany’s largest airline and the flagship of the Lufthansa Group is at the center of the “Lufthansa” section. The crane in a circle, which first appeared on the Deutsche Luft Hansa emblem in 1926, remains one of the oldest continuously used symbols in civil aviation. The Lufthansa Group operates Swiss, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings. Still, it is the crane on the tail fin of German aircraft that has become the embodiment of European aviation heritage. The section traces the brand’s visual history, which survived liquidation after World War II and was revived in 1953.
