The Government of the Czech Republic Unveils New Logo and Brand Identity

The Government of the Czech Republic Logo

The Czech government has unveiled an updated visual identity developed by Najbrt studio, designed to express unity and official clarity within the state administration. The new emblem is represented by a red shield featuring the silhouette of a double-tailed lion, a classic symbol of Czechia. The lion is depicted in mid-leap with carefully crafted details such as its crown, claws, and two tails, ensuring expressiveness even at small sizes. Alongside the shield runs a blue stripe, recalling the national tricolor of Czechia, emphasizing the emblem’s governmental affiliation.

Aiming for consistency, the new identity replaces the previous chaos, where different government bodies used completely unrelated symbols and typefaces without a unified visual logic. Now, all government agencies employ a clear and easily recognizable system.

Czechia Sans™, a typeface specially created for this project, is practical and readable, featuring geometric shapes complemented by sharp endings that subtly reference elements of the Czech flag. This design simplifies readability and makes government communications more accessible to all citizens.

The designers paid careful attention to details within the coat of arms, enlarging specific elements to ensure the symbol remained clear even when scaled down significantly. This preserves the lion’s distinctive character and expressiveness across various contexts, whether small icons or large signage.
