Trane Technologies emerged as an independent public company following its spin-off from Ingersoll Rand, beginning its separate existence under its own brand. Along with the launch of the new entity, the Landor & Fitch team unveiled a logo on March 2, 2020.
The logo consists of two tiers. The top tier features the stylized word “TRANE.” The bottom tier contains “TECHNOLOGIES,” rendered in a thin sans-serif font reminiscent of Futura or Avenir Light. The letters of “TECHNOLOGIES” are black and geometric.
All attention is focused on the top, where each letter of the name is transformed into a separate abstract element. The central position is occupied by the letter A in the form of an inverted V. The purple color of this letter contrasts with the adjacent black elements, emphasizing the symbolism of ascent or a peak.
The remaining letters of the name “T,” “R,” “N,” and “E” are rendered in black, with modular shapes and missing details. The letter T has part of its top line removed on the right, the letter R is missing its left vertical stroke, and the letter E is missing its left side. This playful treatment of the elements gives the lettering a distinctive style that combines minimalism and futurism.
