The University of Lethbridge has introduced a new logo that emphasizes its connection to the region’s history and natural surroundings.

Previously, the university used a traditional crest featuring a sun and a ribbon, paired with a classic typeface. It has been replaced by a mark composed of yellow lines forming the image of the sun. The image conveys the idea of community, an open space for the exchange of knowledge, and shared growth.

Four rays in the central part of the mark reference the structure of a tipi and speak to the strength of the university community. The upper part of the symbol remains open, emphasizing an ongoing connection with nature and a desire to look beyond conventional perspectives. The color scheme has changed. A blue background became the foundation, associated with the region’s natural landscape and a sense of focus.

The new style is the result of long discussions with representatives of Indigenous peoples, students, staff, and alumni. At the heart of the updated identity is the idea of unity and the ability to see the world from different viewpoints while supporting mutual respect and understanding.

The updated University of Lethbridge logo connects the past and the future. It draws on the local landscape and topography, conveying the surrounding environment’s character through form and rhythmic line.
