Equipment for agriculture, construction, and transportation is used under heavy loads and requires stable, long-term operation. Producing such machinery involves developing, assembling, and maintaining equipment for various industries. The CNH Industrial logo is associated with an industrial group that unites the Case, New Holland, and IVECO brands and produces equipment for the agricultural, construction, and logistics sectors.

CNH Industrial: Brand overview

CNH Industrial was established on September 29, 2013. This happened after the merger of Fiat Industrial and CNH Global. The new holding included the brands Case, New Holland, and Steyr. The company’s history dates back to the 19th century. In 1842, Jerome Case founded a company for manufacturing threshers in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In 1895, Abe Zimmerman opened New Holland Machine in Pennsylvania.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Belgian engineer Leon Claeys introduced the first European self-propelled combine. Around the same time, Fiat, founded in 1899, began producing tractors and became a leading European manufacturer of agricultural equipment.

In the 1980s, the Ford Corporation acquired New Holland. Later, this asset was sold to the Fiat Group. As a result of that deal, the company N.H. Geotech was created, which became the foundation for the future CNH. In 1999, Case Corporation and New Holland N.V. merged to form CNH Global. It became a global producer of agricultural and construction machinery.

In 2011, Fiat split its industrial assets into a new company, Fiat Industrial. It included Iveco, CNH, and FPT Industrial. Two years later, all divisions were combined into CNH Industrial N.V. The company’s shares began trading on the New York Stock Exchange and Borsa Italiana.

Since 2013, CNH Industrial has managed twelve brands. The largest are Case IH, New Holland Agriculture, and Case Construction. In 2021, the company purchased Raven Industries for $ 2.1 billion, strengthening its position in autonomous and precision agriculture.

Since January 2022, the company has focused on producing agricultural and construction equipment. The road vehicle division was spun off into a separate company, Iveco Group. The headquarters is located in London. The main shareholder remains the Exor holding, owned by the Agnelli family.

The combination CNH appeared in 1999 after New Holland N.V. acquired Case Corporation. The combined business was named CNH Global. The letter “C” came from Case, while “N” and “H” came from New Holland.

The modern group began operations on September 29, 2013, following the merger of Fiat Industrial S.p.A. and CNH Global N.V. Shares of the new group began trading in New York and Milan on September 30. The company was incorporated in the Netherlands. The name CNH Industrial combined the historic Case New Holland abbreviation with the word Industrial inherited from Fiat Industrial.

Industrial reflected the expanded composition of the group. Along with the agricultural and construction equipment operations of CNH Global, the organization included Iveco trucks, FPT Industrial powertrains, and other Fiat Industrial assets.

The group’s first logo was introduced on July 9, 2013, before the merger was legally completed. It established a shared name for the two industrial groups in advance. Large black letters CNH occupied the upper line, while the smaller word INDUSTRIAL appeared below. A separate dark red square appeared in the upper right corner.

The letters CNH had heavy geometric forms, thick strokes, and close connections. The left vertical stroke of the “H” aligned with the right edge of the “N,” joining the neighboring letters into one structure. The connection represented the combination of Fiat Industrial and CNH Global. The large upper line gave the abbreviation the primary role, while Industrial occupied the lower level.

The word INDUSTRIAL consisted of smaller black uppercase letters. It used a sans-serif typeface that differed from the custom CNH lettering. The lower line matched the width of the large letter block. The red square appeared above the text baseline with space separating it from the letters.

Company materials received an updated logo in early 2024. The project carried the internal name “Redesign CNH Logo 2024.” The new version retained the shorter name CNH. The letter construction was revised, and the connections became rounded. The entire wordmark became red. The color of the separate square moved to the letters, while the square was removed from the composition.

The New York Stock Exchange changed the ticker from CNHI to CNH on May 20, 2024. The company explained that the change aligned the stock symbol with the name used by employees, dealers, investors, and customers. CNH became the group’s primary public name and replaced the longer CNH Industrial form in everyday communications.

The legal name CNH Industrial N.V. remains in use in company documents and stock exchange filings. The public identity moved to the shorter CNH form, created from the names of the historic Case and New Holland brands.
