RoboForex: Brand overview

RoboForex was founded in 2009, during the global financial crisis, when retail trading was growing on volatile markets. The broker is registered in Belize and operates under the local Financial Services Commission, a common route for online brokers seeking a fast launch without the heavier regulation of European jurisdictions.

From the start, RoboForex focused on trading technology. It introduced cent accounts for beginners who wanted to test robots and Expert Advisors with limited risk. The name reflected that niche: “Robo” suggested automated trading, which had grown after the release of MetaTrader 4. The company was also among the early brokers to support MetaTrader 5 after its beta release in 2009.

In October 2012, RoboForex registered as a financial provider in New Zealand and launched CopyFX, a copy-trading service for investors to mirror experienced traders. Its competitors included eToro and ZuluTrade, but RoboForex built its own closed ecosystem. In 2014, CopyFX entered commercial use, while the New Zealand registration was closed, and clients moved to the Belize structure. The Cyprus-licensed European business later became RoboMarkets under CySEC license 191/13.

In 2016, RoboForex launched R StocksTrader for access to NYSE and NASDAQ stocks, as well as RAMM, its risk-allocation investment platform. In 2017, it added Prime accounts with tight spreads and fixed commissions. By 2019, the platform offered 12,000 instruments across stocks, ETFs, metals, energy, indices, forex, and crypto. Its affiliate program paid up to 85% of the spread, competing with Exness and Alpari. By 2020, RoboForex served over 730,000 clients in 169 countries.
