Sowing, crop protection, and hybrid selection begin long before harvest and depend on field conditions and the season. The Corteva Agriscience logo is associated with a company that develops seeds, crop protection products, and agricultural technologies for farmers. Products used in agriculture to increase yields and protect crops are marketed under this name.

Corteva Agriscience: Brand overview

Corteva Agriscience was created in 2017 from the merger of DuPont’s and Dow Chemical’s agricultural divisions. In 2019, it was spun off as an independent public company. The origins of Corteva are linked to DuPont, founded in 1802 as a gunpowder factory, and to Dow Chemical, established in 1897 as a manufacturer of chemicals and plastics.

In the 20th century, both companies became innovators in agrochemistry. DuPont developed the production of pesticides and herbicides. In 1999, it acquired Pioneer Hi-Bred, one of the leading producers of hybrid seeds. Dow introduced herbicides based on the 2,4-D compound and invested in seed biotechnology.

Following the 2017 merger of DuPont and Dow, a combined entity called DowDuPont was formed. Later, it was divided into three independent companies. One of them was Corteva Agriscience, which focused on seeds and crop protection products. The name reflects its connection to agriculture and life processes.

In 2019, the company listed its shares on the New York Stock Exchange. Under its management were the brands Pioneer and Rynaxypyr, along with a portfolio of herbicides. The company began optimizing production processes and invested in digital services. During this period, the Granular platform for agronomic planning was launched.

Since the early 2020s, Corteva has strengthened its focus on biological solutions. It acquired Symborg and Stoller Group, companies specializing in microbial and natural growth stimulants. In 2023, Corteva introduced soybean seeds with a gene providing herbicide resistance. In 2024, the company invested in CRISPR gene-editing technologies.

The brand is among the world’s largest producers of agrochemical products. The company develops seed varieties, bioproducts, and innovative crop protection solutions. Its operations cover more than 140 countries.

Corteva Agriscience Logo

The name “Corteva Agriscience” is made from two semantic parts. “Cor” comes from a Latin word meaning “heart,” while “teva” is related to an ancient Hebrew word meaning “nature.” The name carries a sense of closeness to the land, agriculture, and natural processes.

The brand appeared in 2018, when “DowDuPont” began separating its agricultural division into a standalone business. The “Ogilvy Consulting” team developed the name and mark. The agency’s task was to create the image of a new player in the agricultural market, connected with science, technology, and farming.

The logo consists of a mark and a name. On the left is a circular symbol made of blue and white lines. Inside the form, there are zigzags and angular fragments resembling fields, plots of land, or a crop layout seen from above. The agricultural theme is conveyed through geometry and the association with cultivated land.

On the right is the “CORTEVA” inscription. The letters are large, uppercase, dense, and closely resemble “Gotham Bold.” Below it is the word “agriscience” in a thinner typeface resembling “Avenir” or “Century Gothic.” Due to the difference in weight, the upper line is perceived as the brand name, while the lower line explains the field of work.

The blue-and-white emblem next to the black inscription lends the logo a strict, modern appearance. The logo represents a company in the agricultural sector, where land, science, and technology coexist.
