The Fenty Beauty logo is associated with boundary-free makeup, where everyone can find their perfect shade. The brand revolutionized the beauty industry by making cosmetics universal and accessible while combining decorative and skincare products to enhance natural beauty.

Fenty Beauty: Brand overview

Fenty Beauty was founded in 2016 when Rihanna partnered with Kendo Holdings, a LVMH division, to create a cosmetics line that emphasized inclusive beauty. Rihanna actively guided product development, with a particular focus on a wide range of foundation shades.

The brand officially launched on September 8, 2017, in Sephora and Harvey Nichols stores across 17 countries, introducing 40 shades of Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Foundation. Its broad shade selection significantly influenced the beauty industry, leading Time magazine to name Fenty Beauty one of 2017’s top innovations.

Early sales were strong, generating around $72 million in the first month. By the end of 2018, annual revenues had reached approximately $570 million, boosted by successful launches such as Body Lava and the “Beach, Please!” summer collection.

In 2019, Fenty expanded its foundation range to 50 shades, introduced Pro Filt’r Hydrating Foundation for dry skin, and increased its eye makeup options. A comprehensive eye collection followed in January 2020, featuring mascaras and liners.

In 2021, Fenty Skin debuted to complement the existing makeup range, and the number of foundation shades increased to 60. Innovations continued in 2022 with the well-received Fenty Icon Lipstick Collection. By 2023, the company expanded internationally, launching advanced concealers and highlighters.

Entering 2024, Fenty Beauty remains committed to inclusive beauty, continually developing products tailored to diverse skin tones and complexions.

Commission Studio, based in London and led by David McFarlane and Christopher Moorby, developed the identity for the new Fenty Beauty brand. Their task was to combine Rihanna’s individuality with the fashion industry’s relevant aesthetics, creating a set of symbols that would work equally well for packaging, advertising, and long-term communication.

The logo’s construction is based on the vertical arrangement of three elements. The upper block features the monogram “FB,” inspired by an antique serif typeface with large outlines, pronounced stroke contrast, and elegant serifs. It functions as an additional mark used in limited cases. Its heaviness gives the image status and emphasizes premium quality, creating a foundation for the brand style. Below is the inscription “FENTY BEAUTY,” executed in a custom sans-serif font. The main accent is the mirrored “N,” which has become a symbolic reference to the brand’s innovative look and experimental direction. The final line, “BY RIHANNA”, is presented in a neutral, small-size grotesque; it emphasizes the singer’s personal involvement in the project and confirms her public authority.

The typographic part contrasts with the monogram. While “FB” refers to the traditional academic nature of serif type, the main inscription leans toward the functionality of a modern grotesque. The difference between these layers creates the visual tension necessary when working with a fashion brand’s image.

The color scheme is austere. Black is used as a universal base, allowing the elements to stand out with maximum expressiveness. On packaging, gold embossing, embossed elements, and surface texture are applied. They translate the identity into the realm of high fashion, emphasizing the products’ premium character.

The Fenty Beauty emblem creates a multilayered image that combines an authorial gesture, minimalism, historical reference, and a technological element. Fenty Beauty established itself as a cosmetics brand with both commercial weight and artistic dimension connected with Rihanna’s persona.
