XPeng was founded in August 2014 in Guangzhou, China. The startup’s founders, Xia Heng and He Tao, previously held senior roles at the automotive corporation GAC Group. Entrepreneur He Xiaopeng was among the first investors, and the brand was named XPeng in his honor. Tech giants Alibaba and Xiaomi also participated in the company’s development of electric cars.

XPeng’s first vehicle was the electric crossover G3, presented at CES in Las Vegas in 2018. Two years later, the company launched its flagship sedan, the P7, equipped with autopilot and capable of traveling up to 706 km on a single charge. In 2021, XPeng released its third model, the P5, becoming the first mass-produced electric car with integrated lidar.

The logo introduced the brand’s name. The inscription featured thinner lettering, increased width, and precise geometry. The Latin letter “G” acquired a closed contour and a strict form, while “P” and “E” were designed with open elements on the left.
