The XPeng logo represents the Chinese automaker’s innovation in electric vehicles and advanced technologies. It emphasizes minimalism, modernity, and the brand’s ambition in developing electric transport.

XPeng: Brand overview

XPeng was founded in Guangzhou in August 2014 by Xia Heng and He Tao, both former GAC Group employees. Technology entrepreneur He Xiaopeng joined as an early investor, later became chairman and gave the brand its transliterated name. Funding from Alibaba and Xiaomi provided capital and access to expertise in software, artificial intelligence and consumer electronics as the company developed electric cars and proprietary driver-assistance systems.

The G3 electric crossover debuted at CES in Las Vegas in January 2018 and entered the Chinese market late that year, establishing XPeng’s first customer base. In 2020, the P7 sedan followed, with the in-house XPILOT system and a stated range of up to 706 kilometers, putting the model up against Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y in the electric-car market.

In August 2020, XPeng raised $1.5 billion through an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange. The listing gave XPeng international exposure and foreign capital. The P5 arrived in 2021 as the world’s first production electric car with integrated lidar in its standard configuration. Its laser-based sensing equipment brought autonomous-driving technology into a mass-market vehicle.

In 2023, Volkswagen invested in XPeng and agreed to cooperate on electric-vehicle platforms for China. European sales expanded in 2024 to Norway, Switzerland, Poland and the Czech Republic. Alongside road cars, the company pursued robotaxis, flying vehicles and humanoid robots.

What is XPeng?

One of China’s leading electric vehicle manufacturers is implementing advanced technologies. The company developed its autonomous driving system, voice assistant, and over-the-air software updates. Its product lineup includes sedans, crossovers, and even personal flying vehicles. The company relies on proprietary technologies instead of borrowing from Western firms. Cars are equipped with innovative sensors to support safe autonomous driving.

2014 – 2021

XPeng’s visual identity reflected the new brand’s technological focus. The design team concentrated on the image of innovation, which became the foundation of the company’s positioning in the electric vehicle industry.

The main symbol was a stylized letter “X.” Its shape resembled the wings of a drone or the blades of a propeller. The image referenced the theme of autonomous technologies and future engineering solutions that underpin the brand’s products. The structure of the “X” created a visual association with motion and aviation systems, emphasizing the brand’s connection to high-tech mobility.

The palette was black, conveying a technological character and providing strong contrast on any background. On the car bodies, a metallic version of the same shade was used to match the materials and textures of the company’s products.

The XPeng logo served as the brand’s visual foundation, reflecting its focus on innovation, engineering precision, and autonomous transportation technology.

2021 – today

XPeng Logo

XPeng’s redesign marked a new stage in the company’s development, reflecting its transition to a more technologically advanced, modern style. The update was carried out by the brand’s in-house design studio, which reworked the previous version and enhanced the symbol’s visual impact.

The main emphasis was placed on the redesigned shape of the “X.” The symbol was composed of two large elements that visually resembled wings or a butterfly’s outline. Their structure conveyed a sense of expanding boundaries and aligned with the brand’s direction toward developing autonomous, “flying” transportation technologies.

The logo introduced the brand’s name. The inscription featured thinner lettering, increased width, and precise geometry. The Latin letter “G” acquired a closed contour and a strict form, while “P” and “E” were designed with open elements on the left. The structure created a sense of technological precision and aligned with the visual logic of the new symbol.

The primary black color emphasized the brand’s minimalist, technological aesthetic.

The typeface style was close to Bank Gothic and Orbitron, both known for their geometric, futuristic character. The updated logo reflected XPeng’s direction toward developing intelligent electric vehicles and innovative transportation, while maintaining visual continuity with the previous version.

Font and Colors

The typography of the XPeng logo was developed with geometric precision and form in mind. The lettering used a sans-serif font with straight outlines. Its structure was built on the balance of lines, proportions, and engineering accuracy. The varied combination of letterforms gave the design a modern, technological feel. Stylistically, the font resembled commercial typefaces such as Orbitron and Bank Gothic, known for their futuristic character and strict geometry.

The color system retained the black shade. It reflected the brand’s association with the automotive and technology sectors, where this color symbolizes precision and status.
