Ataboy Studios: Brand overview

Vikkal Parikh, originally from Mumbai, India, founded Ataboy Studios in New York City in 2011. With an architectural background, Parikh pivoted towards visual arts, obtaining his MFA in Computer Art from the Savannah College of Art and Design. It was there, around 2005, that he discovered motion design, marking a turning point in his career.

Parikh worked as a creative director at Red Car in NYC for five years, helping establish its animation division. Seeking creative autonomy, he launched Ataboy as an independent, self-funded studio, initially focusing on animation, visual effects, and live-action storytelling. Early projects focused on meaningful social causes, establishing the studio’s reputation for creating thoughtful visual narratives.

By 2023, Ataboy expanded with a new office in Boston, led by executive producers Nick Sterling and Ned Biddle. Located within the renowned National Boston facility in Brookline, this move strengthened ties with Boston’s creative industry.

Ataboy’s client list expanded to include global brands such as Adidas, Coca-Cola, Progressive, IKEA, and GE, delivering memorable advertising campaigns through innovative visual storytelling. Today, Ataboy continues to push creative boundaries, blending diverse techniques from typography to stop-motion animation, while maintaining a commitment to creativity and inclusion.

Ataboy Studios Logo

The studio was founded by Vikkal Parikh, a designer and director who set a course toward digital content, motion design, and advertising projects. The company established its identity through a strict minimalist emblem, where the functionality of the typeface and the geometric integrity of the letters aligned with the principles of a modern visual language in the creative industries.

The letters are grouped as tightly as possible, forming a solid text block without gaps, which gives the construction a sense of a monolith. Certain characters serve an accent role. The letter “A” with a cut-off upper edge introduces an individual touch, while the “Y” with rounded plasticity completes the mark with a smooth transition. The compact structure is interpreted as a symbol of teamwork, where all elements are integrated into a single framework.

The logo’s typography corresponds to grotesque typefaces such as Gotham, Akzidenz-Grotesk, or Futura. All characters are without serifs, and the strokes are massive and even.

Black conveys a sense of solidity and professional reliability, while white helps create space and balance.

In its time, such a design reflected international trends in visual identity for creative studios. The Ataboy Studios logo is based on the combination of rigid structure and soft accents. The black letter block is associated with monumentality and strength, while unusual accents in the glyphs add individuality and creative freedom. The balance reflects the specifics of Ataboy Studios working at the intersection of commercial storytelling and art.
