Nestle Logos and Brands

The Swiss corporation Nestlé, the world’s largest food and beverage company, is at the center of the “Nestlé” section. A nest with a bird feeding its chicks appeared on the emblem in 1868 as a visual translation of the founder Henri Nestlé’s surname (from the German “Nestlé,” meaning “nest”). Nescafé, KitKat, Maggi, Purina, Perrier, and dozens of other sub-brands form a portfolio of more than 2,000 trademarks. The nest logo has undergone numerous stylistic updates, and the number of chicks in it was reduced from three to two in 1988, reflecting a decline in average family size. This section traces the visual evolution of the brand, whose annual turnover exceeds 90 billion Swiss francs.
